July 27th, 2012 at 9:00pm GMT marks the official beginning of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games.
This year’s opening ceremonies have been kept quite secret as usual. Featuring Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle‘s £27 million artistic program, the opening ceremonies are the most speculated upon aspect of the Games.
The Opening Ceremonies will begin with Coe and IOC president Jacques Rogge welcoming the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II to Olympic Stadium.

Included on the guest list are the core members of Britain’s royal family: Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, and Prince Harry.
The lighting of the cauldron culminates the 70 day relay and the Olympic torch will enter the hands of the last of the 8,000 torchbearers.
The final torch bearer has not been announced, speculation as to who the final Torchbearer will be has included Sir Steven Redgrave, a five-time gold medalist in rowing, and decorated decathlete Daley Thompson, both of which have already carried the Olympic Torch in this year’s relay.
It has been reported that Paul McCartney will lead the crowd in a sing-along of the Beatle’s1968 single, “Hey Jude.” Other musical tracks will include legendary rock tracks from The Who, Eric Clapton, Led Zeplin and beats from M.I.A and Tinie Tempah.
Full soundtrack will be released digitally immediately following the Opening Ceremonies.
