BASKETBALL — 27 December 2012

Looks like Avery Johnson received a late xmas present from his boss who decided to FIRE him today after an 11-4 start, the Nets have lost 10 of their last 13 games. This is clearly a message from above that the money they spent on this team is supposed to result in wins and if they don’t it will cost people their jobs. The expectations of this team are a lot higher with a brand new arena and the money spent they are expecting additional revenues from playoffs as a result of a competitive team. It’s a shame that Avery Johnson went down as the fall guy, as I believe he is one of the better coaches in the NBA. However he clearly wasn’t getting what he needed from his team the last 13 games.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard discusses the Nets’ firing of head coach Avery Johnson.
