Alex Burrows will return to the lineup tonight as Canada faces host Finland at the IIHF Hockey Championship.
Burrows suffered a concussion in the opening game of the tournament after colliding with two Slovak players. He did not report any post-concussion symptoms after he was left wobbly, but the necessary precautions have been taken and he has been eased back into action.
“He’s playing tonight,” Canada’s coach Brent Sutter said after Friday morning’s skate. “Every day has been really good for him since the initial play. Since then he’s been good.”
This is the first time the 31-year-old has represented Canada at in international hockey event and implied that he was anxious to return to the lineup.
So far, team Canada is 3-1 in the tournament. Their only loss so far has been to Team USA (5-4).
Team Canada’s upcoming games include: Finland Friday May 11t, Canada vs, Kazakhstan on Saturday May 12th and Canada vs. Belarus on Tuesday May 15th.
Quarterfinals begin Thursday May 17th. Semifinals start on Saturday May 19th and the Bronze and Gold metal games are on Sunday May 20th.
