Following their heartbreaking loss to the Americans, the Canadian women’s soccer team managed to pull through and bring home a medal for Canada.
Diana Matheson scored the winning goal in the 92nd minute, leading Canada to a 1-0 bronze medal victory.
For the majority of the 90 minute contest, France didn’t appear to be the side that looked in danger of losing the game. Canada’s keeper Erin McLeod and her defensive line did a spectacular job of holding off the attacks from the French.
France had 25 shots on goal compared to just 4 for Canada.
