It is that time of year again and already Team Canada Juniors have already received a wake up call, perhaps one that will benefit them in during the tournament. This morning they lost to a very competitive Finland team by a score of 3-2. Aside from the score, the aspect of this game that proved to be the most disappointing was their undisciplined play; more specifically the 9 minor penalties they received during the game. As a result, Finland made the most of their powerplay opportunities which proved to be the difference in this game. The expectation for tomorrow’s pre-competition game against Sweden, is a more disciplined team; even if the result does not end in a victory, the entire team is expect to raise their level of play before they begin their quest to break their 3-year gold medal drought on Boxing Day. This year’s version of the tournament is expected to be highly compettive, as many of the players participating have already played on their respective NHL teams; or were prepared to do so before the NHL lockout.
