CTV announced Tuesday that 28-year-old CFL wide receiver Brad Smith would be the first-ever Bachelor Canada. The reality show will air this fall and the highly anticipated announcement was made earlier this morning on Breakfast Television, Rogers Radio stations and BachelorCanada.ca.
Smith grew up in the quiet, smal town of Hudson, QC, graduated from Queens University in Kingston, ON, and became a successful wide receiver for the CFL. Smith began is football career with the Montreal Alouettes in 2007, then joined the Toronto Argonauts from 2007- 2009, then played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 2010-2011. He is currently a free-agent and has decided to take some time away from football to search for his soul mate on reality television.
“I’m extremely honoured to be chosen as Canada’s first bachelor. I take this experience very seriously, and I truly believe in the process,” said Smith. “I can’t wait to meet all the wonderful Canadian women who have put their lives on hold to experience all of this with me. I hope I can live up to their expectations, as I know they’ll absolutely exceed mine.”
