Sometimes there’s just no point in keeping a secret. Tuesday Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson confirmed what many enthusiasts already assumed, that they would be selecting Andrew Luck number one in the NFL Draft on Thursday evening.
Last Wednesday Grigson stated that the Colts had made their decision as to whom they would be selecting in the number one spot, but declined to confirm whether it would be Luck.
Luck will replace Peyton Manning as the face of the Colts organization; also a former #1 Draft pick.
As early as Thursday, reports began circulating that Andrew Luck had spilled the beans and announced that the Colts told him they would be selecting him at #1. He had reportedly been aware of their choice for several weeks.
Luck is considered by many to be the most NFL ready, polished college quarterback since Peyton Manning himself.
The Colts brought in Luck for private workouts earlier this month which they did not do with the likely number 2 selection, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Washington Redskins have the second-overall pick and will likely select Griffin.
