The Dallas Cowboys had their sweet revenge against the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants Wednesday night after they lost the NFC East title to them on New Year’s Day.
DeMarcus Ware had an especially sweet victory as he became the second fastest player in the NFL to reach 100 sacks. During the second quarter of Wednesday’s season opener, Ware threw down Giants’ Eli Manning; not a bad way to rack up no. 100. He recorded two sacks against Eli Manning to total 101.5 career sacks.
There are only four other NFL players in history to have 10 or more sacks in six season. All of which are Hall of Famers including John Randal, Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith and Reggie White. DeMarcus Ware is in line to join them with 483 tackles and 101.5 Sacks following his week 1 performance. Ware is currently ranked No. 6 on the NFL Top 100 poll for 2012.
Check out some highlights of DeMarcus Ware:
Ware is second to Reggie White for the record of reaching 100 sacks. DeMarcus Ware accomplished the feat in 113 games, compared to White’s 96 games.
If DeMarcus Ware can get another season of leading the league in sacks, he will break the record of most seasons leading the league in sacks; which is currently tied at two amongst five other players.
