Victoria Soto was a young teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School who was shot and killed while protecting her first-grade class in last week’s tragedy.
Derek Jeter made a phone call to Donna Soto, Victoria’s mother, the said day she laid her daughter to rest.
Victoria was a huge Yankees fan according to a cousin of hers, James Wiltsie.
Vicki loved the Yankees — that was part of her eulogy,” Wiltsie said Wednesday. “No one in the family reached out, so (Jeter) must have heard about it and … reached out.”
The New York Yankees confirmed that Jeter placed the phone call, but they would not go into any details about the conversation they had.
