FOOTBALL — 13 December 2014

Welcome to another edition of Don’s Weekly Pick’s: Week 15! As always, I like to start with how the previous week of #DonsPicks went. Last week was good a good one folks as I went 11-5 with a few games coming down to the wire. So where did I go wrong, well first off I missed by picking the Bengals over the Steelers at home (WTF Jon?!?!). Than I missed by picking the Titans to beat the Giants, who just a week before lost to the Jaguars … THE JAGUARS?!?! (I seriously don’t understand your Giants Tom!!!), I missed by picking the dysfunctional Saints to beat the lowly Panthers, both of whom play in the worst division in all of football this year. I than picked the Chiefs to beat the Cardinals who have a legitimate backup but a backup none the less as their starting quarterback. Finally, I missed by picking against the upset of the week as I picked the 49ers to beat the 1 win Raiders … WOW, San Francisco, get your life together!!! So, lets recap!

Current Record: 129-77-1

  • Cowboys: Win
  • Bengals: Loss
  • Rams: Win
  • Titans: Loss
  • Saints: Loss
  • Vikings: Win
  • Ravens: Win
  • Colts: Win
  • Lions: Win
  • Texans: Win
  • Broncos: Win
  • Chiefs: Loss
  • Seahawks: Win
  • 49ers: Loss
  • Patriots: Win
  • Packers: Win

So, lets talk Don’s Weekly Pick’s: Week 15! There a number of things to look forward to in the upcoming match-ups in this week of the NFL. We get to see Johnny Manziel‘s first NFL start which I personally will be watching as Im pumped to see if his brand of football can translate into the NFL. My Lions will be looking to pick up a much needed divisional win to stay in the race with the Packers for the NFC North Title. The Broncos and Chargers are always a game to look forward to and despite a loss to the Raiders the 49ers are still in contention for a playoff push and with a divisional game against the Seahawks as they battle with the Cardinals for the top spot in the NFC West. Finally theres a divisional fight for the NFC East as Tony Romo and the Cowboys battle the Eagles for the divisional supremacy. So, lets get started!

Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns

Dons Pick: Cleveland Browns

Thats right folks, Im picking Johnny Football in his first NFL start to get a big win against the Bengals this Sunday. I personally believe the Bengals are over rated and just far too unpredictable to pick especially on the road. The Bengals defence will have no idea how to prepare for Manziel and the Browns offence as it will look nothing like the offence that Hoyers been running. Johnny is mobile and has a knack for making plays when the play doesn’t seem to be there. He stepped in against the Bills after Hoyer struggled to move the ball down field and showed some of that style as he scored on his first drive. Look for some exciting plays and a close game as Manziel despite making plays will struggle at times in his first start.

Johnny Manziel Preseason Week 1

Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers

Dons Pick: Denver Broncos

This is going to be a heck of a game! The Chargers are coming off a tough loss to the Patriots and will look be do more offensively than they had the previous week. Phillip Rivers will play much better as he looks to prove that he can hang with the best of the best this week against Peyton Manning. That however will be the problem, He’s facing Peyton Manning! Not to mention the Broncos running game is on top of its game as CJ Anderson rushed for 3 touchdowns against the Bills. The Chargers offensive line is not playing well and the Broncos have one of the best blitzing tandems in the NFL with Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware. Look for a close game with the Broncos controlling the clock and Peyton doing what Peyton does, throw touchdowns.

Peyton Mannings 55 Touchdowns

Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions

Dons Pick: Detroit Lions

The Vikings had a big win last week and Teddy Bridgewater is having himself a nice but quite rookie campaign. The Lions though have one of the NFL‘s best defences and the offence seems to be stepping up as they looked like the old Lions offence last week. Calvin Johnson is healthy and starting to play like Calvin Johnson once again. The rushing attack of the Lions is stepping up its game and if Reggie Bush can get his game back to where it was than the Lions are going to be a team to be dealt with. Look for the Lions to win by more than a couple touchdowns as the Vikings struggle to keep up with the Matt Stafford and the Lions offence.

Calvin Johnson Highlights

San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks

Dons Pick: Seattle Seahawks

This is easier than you think, the 49ers lost to the RAIDERS!!! The Seahawks are playing like the defending Super Bowl Champions and the 49ers are simply not playing well this season as for whatever reason they seem to be falling apart. Marshawn Lynch is playing like beast mode and Russell Wilson is moving the ball far better than he was earlier in the season. The defence is playing lights out and are simply playing at another level than the 49ers who have a respectful defence themselves but their offence is struggling as Colin Kaepernick doesn’t seem to know how to play the quarterback position. Look for a dominating performance in a game that is typically one to watch out for.

Marshawn Lynch Highlights

Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles

Dons Pick: Philadelphia Eagles (Sorry Doug and Lamar!!!)

This is super tough for me as I WANT to take the Cowboys but I am just not convinced that the Cowboys can beat the Eagles after the last game these teams played in Dallas. The Eagles struggled against the Seahawks but its hard to hold that against them as the Seahawks are simply playing unworldly right now. With that being said despite the Eagles struggle against Seattle, Mark Sanchez did still throw 2 touchdowns against one of the best defences so its easy to think that he can double that number against the Cowboys Secondary. Look for a big game from both offences with the Eagles coming out on top with multiple touchdowns! (There you go Bruce!!!)

LeSean McCoy Highlights
