FOOTBALL — 28 March 2012

The Superbowl Champion New York Giants will host the 2012 regular season kickoff game against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on September 5th, 2012.

Regular season games normally kick off on a Thursday, they have done so since 2002; however, this year the season begins on a Tuesday in order to avoid conflicting with a scheduled speech by President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention.

The Giants don’t care what day the game is on, or who they are playing, they only care that they get to host the opening day game. “Who cares who we are playing; hosting the game is all that’s important,” Giants owner John Mara joked. “It’s exciting. They’re one of our big rivals. We had two great games last year. The fans will be jacked up for it.”

The complete 2012 NFL regular season schedule has not yet been released. It is expected to be released at the end of April.
