In many ways this story is very similar to the one James Harden. It starts with trade speculation, then the organization does their best to dispel the trade speculation and then all of a sudden the trade materializes. With the St. Louis Rams’ All-Pro Running Back Steven Jackson, one cannot help but begin the speculation of Jackson’s trade as the NFL trade deadline approaches. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has already noted of the Rams organization “fielding trade requests” from multiple teams with need at the Running Back position. Some of the teams listed in the equation are the the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers; each of this teams with noted injuries in the Running back position. With Steven Jackson, you are getting a premier player (9,473 career rushing yards) who is big, physical, fast, and can catch the ball (has 3,079 career receiving yards). It is very likely with all these attributes, the Rams would likely be looking for quite a bit in return. The question pending about Steven Jackson is how much mileage does he have left? Jackson to me is seemingly good for a Super Bowl contender, but for teams whom are looking to rebuild for the future, Jackson may not be the best idea; especially if the trade involved relinquishing future draft picks. At this point everything surrounding the Steven Jackson trade is “purely speculation” as they would say. But if this story is anything like the one of James Harden, one can be assured that Steven Jackson will be in another team’s uniform when it is all said and done.
