With less than 4 days till the upcoming NBA deadline, reports have come in that James Harden has rejected a 4-year $52 million dollar contract extension from the Oklahoma Thunder. With this news comes ongoing speculation of James Harden’s desire to leave Oklahoma for another team; thus possibly opening the door for other teams to make their offer. From what has been reporting at this point, James has not expressed any desire to leave Oklahoma and negotiations are ongoing for contract extension that would be suitable for both sides. James Harden’s agent Rob Pelinka has been noted to be negotiating with the Oklahoma Thunder General Manager on a deal closer to the $60 million; many speculate that the presence of James’ agent is the factor that is stalling both sides from reaching an agreement. James Harden is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next Summer if an agreement is not reached; a Thunder team without James Harden may not longer be a championship contender team many have said. At this point, reaching a deal before the October 31st deadline has the potential of not materializing.
