The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed their plans on Thursday to honour three former players this season.
They will unveil a statue of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and retire the jerseys of both Shaquille O’Neal and Jamaal Wilkes all during the upcoming season.
The statue of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be unveiled on November 16th. Abdul-Jabbar won five of his six NBA Championship rings during his 14 seasons in Los Angeles.
Jamaal Wilkes‘ number 52 jersey will be retired on December 28th and Shaquille O’Neal‘s number 34 on April 2nd.
Wilkes was with the Lakers for seven seasons and was elected in to the Basketball Hall of Fame this year. O’Neal was with the Lakers for eight seasons and won three NBA Championship titles.
