Every year since LeBron James entered the NBA fans have patiently (or impatiently) been waiting for him to make an appearance in the Slam Dunk Competition.
As one of the most athletically talented and gifted athletes in all of the NBA; and with so much hype surrounding him throughout his entire career, it’s somewhat disappointing to fans that he has not yet entered the competition.

Although the dunk contest has become more of a showcase of younger, lesser known talent; fans still want what they want, and many of them want LBJ in the Dunk Competition.
Unfortunately for those fans they will probably never get their wish.
LeBron James told FOX Sports Florida that he has given it some serious considerations several times tin the past and said the following:
“No. It’s over with. I’m getting too old for that. … There were times when I wanted to do it. But I came into All-Star Weekend a few times banged up and I didn’t want to risk further injury.”
The problem for James at this stage in his career is that entering the completion could do more harm than good. If he does not win then it makes him look bad. Even James himself believes that there are players out there who could easily defeat him in a dunk competition.
Jeremy Evans won the event last year and he believes if James entered he would be able to beat him. When asked about it, Evans said, “I’m going to say I would. I haven’t seen any tricks from him yet because he hasn’t been in (an NBA) dunk contest. … You need the tricks and moves rather than just being a power dunker in a game.”
