The latest chapter in the Michigan vs Michigan State rivalry was decided by a successful 38-yard field goal, by Wolverines’ Kicker Brendan Gibbons, giving the Wolverines a 12-10 victory against the Michigan State Spartans. This win was significant for the Wolverines for a few reasons; it marked the 900th win by the Michigan college program, making it college football most winningest program, it gave the Wolverines their first win against the Spartans since 2007; thus ending a five-game losing skid against the Spartans. In review of the game, there was no real standouts on offense as both team combined for a total of 22 points; All-American Running Back Le’Veon Bell of the Spartans only managed 68 rushing yards, which was extremely low considering he is averaging rushing 131 yards a game. The most notable moment of the game came at the end when the Michigan faithful rushed onto the field after the winning field to celebrate with the Wolverine players, obstructing the Michigan State band from playing its planned post game performances.
