Former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion, Mike Tyson lashes out at CP24 news reporter Nathan Downer Wednesday after questioning with regards to Tyson’s past as a convicted rapist. Downer asked the former champ if he thought his support for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford would negatively impact Fords campaign. Tyson replied very angrily, using profane language.
Mike Tyson is in Toronto for his one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth and met the Toronto Mayor on Tuesday. Tyson was supposed to be on CP24 to promote his show and was asked the political question regarding his past conviction. The former boxer was definitely out of line with his response and could have handled the situation with a little more class but I’m not quite sure where Downer‘s head was at in regards to the questioning. The question seemed more of a cheap shot at Tyson‘s past rather than a journalist trying to get the appropriate response. What did Downer think was going to come of asking a question like that? It seemed more as though he was hoping for the response he received. Tyson was convicted of the charge in 1992, 22 years ago. So what did the question have to do with the purpose of what Tyson was there for? He was supposed to be there to promote his show, not to take questions about politics in a country he doesn’t live.
Regardless when you watch the video, you cant help but revisit some of Mike’s classic rants with other journalists and boxers during his time as a boxer. Whether you loved him or hated him, you always tuned in to watch. It seems not much has changed.
