“Highwire over Niagara Falls” featuring experienced tightrope walker Nik Wallenda is set to take place Friday June 15th at 10:20pm ET.
For the first time since 1896 a tightrope walker will be allowed to cross Niagara Falls from the American side over to the Canadian side of the Falls.
Nik Wallenda is a 7th generation tightrope walker and member of the Flying Wallendas, a circus act and daredevil stunt group who spent months getting permission from both Canada and the US to perform the cross-border stunt.
“For me, the hardest thing is not getting out there now. The nerves go away the closer we get.” Nik commented when asked if he was nervous to attempt the feat. “I’m ready. I’m excited,” he said. “When you see the satellite trucks on the road and the wire up, there’s no question now, we’re ready to go. This is happening. It’s almost game time.”
