The Pittsburgh Penguins finally showed up to the 2012 NHL playoffs with a victory Wednesday night over the Phildelphia Flyers. A game that finally saw Jordan Staal step up with a hat trick, Malkin tossed in a pair and Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists. Avoiding the sweep and trying to become the fourth NHL team to come back from 3-0 deficit to go on and win. What penguins fans might call a little bit of pay back for the 8 goals a game the Flyers have been racking up on Pittsburgh goalies still only counts as a win. Regardless of the score or how you win or lose the reality is Pittsburgh is still down 3-1 in the series and is in desperate need of 3 straight wins to keep their season alive.
Check out this video of Jordan Staal’s third goal to complete the hat trick:
Although it has been an entertaining series the tension can definitely be felt on the ice through the television screen. I think coming back would be more of a collapse from Philadelphia and a loss of composure. If the NHL has a team that has the fire power and talent to make a run at the comeback it’s the Penguins. This squad is just stacked with talent and just might have figured out how to get back into this series.
