BASEBALL — 14 December 2012

If it was not clear that Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos was serious about his team becoming World Series contender, perhaps his next possible move could prove to be more valuable than the 12 player trade he accomplished with the Miami Marlins last month. According to MLB.com, the New York Mets organization is close to finalizing a deal that would send the reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A Dickey to the Blue Jays. With this possible move, it could mean that they would need to part with some catching and outfield depth; names such as J.P. Arencibia and Anthony Gose have come up as part of this potential transaction between both teams. Until today, both the Texas Rangers and the Anaheim Angels were in the running to acquire Dickey; however, due to the reluctance of both team to trade key players, it appears that the Blue Jays stand alone to get a player that could be the difference maker they have been waiting for in a long time.
