Raffi Torres of the Phoenix Coyotes has seen two suspensions within the past 13 months. The most recent of which was in January, for leaving his feet to hit Minnestoa’s Nate Prosser.
This video shows Torres‘ hit on Marion Hossa Tuesday night, which sent Hossa to the hospital in a stretcher. Hossa was later released from hospital and no major injuries have been reported.
For his hit in January, NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan gave Torres a two-game suspension. The same day he received the suspension for the hit on Prosser, Torres was also fined $2500 for elbowing Colorado’s Jan Hejda the day before.
Shanahan has said that anyone coming before the league’s player saftey department certainly does not wan to be a repeat offender.
Torres at this time has not been penalized on the play. “Well, first off, I hope he’s alright,” Torres said to reporters following the game. “But, as far as the hit goes, I felt it was a hockey play.”
