Welcome to another edition of TAILGATE TALK: Jerry Jones buys officiating crew for NFC Wild Card game? For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, you clearly have not seen any sports related broadcast or even been on your social media pages in the past 24 hours. On Sunday night the Detroit Lions traveled to Dallas Texas to play the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC Wild Card match-up. The Lions were dominate in the first 2 quarters of the game, going into the half with a 17-7 lead. The Cowboys came back in the second half to put the game within three points. With the Lions driving the field trying to secure a win on the road, the Lions needed a first down. Matthew Stafford made a throw to Brandon Pettigrew on 3rd and 1, when Anthony Hitchens clearly committed pass interference. So much so, that a flag was thrown and the penalty was called and than eventually wiped clean without explanation.

Mike Pereira explains why the flag should have NEVER been picked up

Now, I don’t know if your heard (Lamar or Doug! lol) but the man did say an officiating crew that “hadn’t” worked together all season. So these referees were brought in first hand by someone. Maybe, the Dallas CowboysJerry Jones? Im not one typically for the conspiracy theory talk but it does seem a tad suspicious. Mike Pereira was also recorded before the game saying that he didn’t believe it was right to bring in crews that hadn’t worked together all season.

Mike Pereira explains why he doesn’t agree with “mixed” officiating crew

Im not trying to imply anything here but the evidence is what it is. I can’t say for 100% certainty that Jerry Jones bought the officiating crew for Sundays game but when the former head of officiating says he doesn’t agree with it, I think it says a lot. Cowboys fans are going to be quick to point out a “bad call” in the first quarter of the game for roughing the punter against the Cowboys but a call that early in the game doesn’t have quite the impact that a blatant none call does when the game is on the line. Not to mention there were some questionable defensive pass interference calls on the Lions when the Cowboys were driving the field and needed a call to continue the drive, or I should say seemed to be called at the most opportune time for the Cowboys as I can’t prove that there was any “tampering“.

Even Fox Sports thinks something is up
