Major League Baseball has suspended Toronto Blue Jays short stop for 3 games for putting an anti-gay slur written under his eyes during a game this weekend vs the Boston Red Sox team. Yunel Escobar had the Spanish words “TU ERE MARICON”. The common English translation is “You Are A Faggot”. Obviously the league and organization doesn’t tolerate anti-gay, racial or any other detrimental opinion/action of the players. The team met with Escobar on Tuesday to discuss the issue and shortly after MLB had decided to give Yunel a 3 day vacation to think about what he did and why it isn’t acceptable.
What was he thinking? With today’s technology and how many eye balls are on these players they can’t possibly think something like this was going to go unnoticed?
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement regarding the suspension “Conduct by people associated with MLB that shows insensitivity to others simply cannot and will not be tolerated.” In 2000 fans will remember hated Atlanta Braves reliever John Rocker was suspended for a bunch of homophobic and racist comments he made in Sports Illustrated.
This was tweeted from the Blue Jays account regarding the inappropriate decision he made.

The three game suspension will begin Tuesday night when team-mate Omar Vizquel will try and pass Babe Ruth on the all time hit list!
