Heavyweight UFC fighter Alistair Overeem took to Twitter on Monday to promise his fans they would see him back in the cage before year-end.
The former Strikeforce champion was pulled from his most recent scheduled UFC heavyweight title bout in May against champion Junior Dos Santos after failing a surprise pre-fight drug test.
Alistair Overeem registered a 14-to-1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio, more than twice the allowable 6-to-1 ratio by the Nevada State Athletic Commission which ultimately cost him a nine month suspension. He can now reapply for a fight license on December 27th. The UFC is planning their annual year-end Las Vegas blockbuster card for December 29th.
This leaves very little time for the UFC to rely on Alistair Overeem to get licensed. It is difficult to predict if the UFC will take a chance on Overeem or play it safe.During his hearing in April, commissioner Francisco Aguilar even suggested that Overeem would be eligible for the year-end pay-per-view event.
